SAKLIKENT GORGE – TLOS ANCIENT CITY (THURSDAY)

Saklıkent is situated near The Taurus Mount Range between Fethiye and Kas. The Gorge is one the longest and the deepest in Turkey. Has been discovered 20 years ago by the villager and after 1998 became one the most popular place amongst the tourists. Saklıkent is a Canyon which is unbelievably beautiful, mystic and fascinating. You can walk 1 km into the canyon then it will be very difficult to move without special equipments. That is very dangerous go into the Canyon without organized tour and guides as well. You will need to put a waterproof shoes before start to walk into the gorge. That would be better to bring extra short with you too. It is not good idea to bring an expensive cameras to the canyon due to high risk of drop it. The plastic rubber shoes can be rented before start to walk into the canyon. TLOS has a very long history the first settlement in this area goes back to 2.000 B.C where you can still see many remains from Lycian, Greek, Roman and Ottoman periods. The winged Horse Pegasus legend had created at TLOS and the hero Beleraphontes had killed the dragon Chaimera at Oliympos Mount near Antalya. That is a perfect opportunity to see interior structures of the rock tombs which you could not see them in Dalyan.
